88 Generation Stuents

 

88 GenerationA group of prominent Burmese student leaders, participants in the nationwide 1988 Uprising of Burma managed to remove the late dictator Ne Win and his authoritarian Burma Socialist Program Party.

Many people were killed during this period of violence and many student leaders were detained by Burma’s Military Regime. Some student leaders are now being released after than a decade of imprisonment. Among them, Min Ko Naing, Ko Ko Gyi, Htay Kywe, Pyone Cho and Min Zeyar are among the most prominent student leaders of 1988 Generation Students’ Group.

They are not only student leaders of All Burma Federation of Students’ Unions(ABFSU) and 1988 Generation Students’ Group but also challenging to change toward democratic nation for better future of new generation in Burma without fears. They have been monitored by Burma Military Regime day by day of their movements and activities. Under many difficult circumstances and repressions of SPDC authorities, they are still moving forwards their aims and objectives to bring together to build future democratic state in Burma.

Their different perspectives and opinions on reconciliation within the country have raised awareness about the actions and weaknesses of the Burmese Military Regime. Day by day, they ask the regime to stop repressions and violations of human rights, to release Nobel Laureate Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and all the political prisoners. But Burma Military Regime is still maintains a relentless grip on its power, ignoring the requests of its citizens, humanitarian organizations, and the U.N. The regime continues to make restrictions on the movements and activities of student leaders. Regardless of many repressions and restrictions, these leaders are standing with highest gratitude of Burmese citizens against Burmese Military Dictatorship.

Now, with many different strategies they continue to fight to remove the Burmese Military Dictatorship without fears and without tears. It is the student leaders in Burma who are struggling for the future democratic nation, freedom and justice on behalf of the people of Burma. It is these leaders who are now known as 1988 Generation Students Group.
